The Research Library's collection, currently over 40,000 titles, contains current and historical works on the histories and cultures of indigenous peoples north of Mexico, including Canada, Alaska, and Hawaii, with an emphasis on 20th century materials.  Print formats include books, serials, maps, pamphlets and brochures.  The collection includes visual and audio recordings and several electronic resources. The serials collection of more than 800 titles includes journals, magazines, newspapers, and auction catalogs supporting the library's mission.  It also includes a large collection of Tribal publications.


Frequently Asked Questions
Can anyone use the Mashantucket Pequot Research Library?
Yes, the library is free and open to the public.  Library patrons may enter through the Museum’s Group Entry.

Can anyone borrow materials?
The Research Library is not a lending library so no material circulates.  Anyone is welcome to use the collections on site.

Can anyone use the Mashantucket Pequot Research Library to do their family history/genealogy?
The Research Library is not a genealogical library. We do however, provide “how to” books to help patrons who have an interest in beginning this kind of research, along with a bibliography of sources.
