Frequently Asked Questions
Who can use Research Library?
The library is free (no Museum admission required) and open to the public.  Library visitors should enter through the Museum’s Group Entry, located in the middle of the building.

Can libray materials be borrowed?
The Research Library is not a lending library.  Material may only be used on-site, however photocopying is allowed within the boundaries of copyright law.

Can the Research Library assist with family history, Native American ancestry, or genealogy?
While we are not designed to support genealogical research, and there are no trained genealogists on staff, we do have some materials that may help get you started, including a bibliography of sources.  We also have some material on microfilm which may help while researching family histories of New London County (census, vital, and land records). More resources are available at the Connecticut State Library.
