Native Waters: Sharing the Source

This exhibition incorporates science, art, film and Native American cultural traditions to increase awareness and respect for water resources. Designed by the Native Waters, Project WET International Foundation at Montana State University in cooperation with the Science Museum of Minnesota for use in schools and community centers, Native Waters: Sharing the Source includes a half-hour film, “A Dream for Water.” Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.

Tree of Nations Carol Sing

The Ledyard High School and Norwich Free Academy choruses join Native American violinist Carlos Romero to ring in the season at the Museum’s annual Carol Sing. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.

Carol Sing Reception

Members Only. A free reception for Museum members follows the Museum’s annual Carol Sing with the Ledyard High School and Norwich Free Academy choruses and Native American violinist Carlos Romero. Hot chocolate, coffee, tea and dessert. Museum members please RSVP for the reception by calling Sarah Eleazer at (860) 396-6890.

Make Holiday Ornaments

Make two special holiday bookmarks to hang on a tree—one to take home and one to be displayed on the Museum’s Tree of Nations—with museum staff and materials provided. free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.

Winter Solstice Celebration

Join our four-day celebration of winter solstice with age-old stories and activities for the whole family.
o Wednesday, 1 pm, puppet show, “Pushing up the Sky”
o Thursday-Saturday, 1 pm, Native storytellers share wintry tales of “Tricksters,” like Octopus, Raven, and Crow, who entertain and teach with their wild and unpredictable antics.
o Contribute to the Museum’s Winter Solstice Mural
o All activities are free with Museum admission, free to Museum members
