Saturdays, June 4, July 2 and Aug. 6, 10 am–4 pm
Free Admission for Kids
A visit to the Museum is great way to spend time with the kids, and this summer we’re making a visit even better because all children ages 15 and younger are admitted free on the first Saturdays in June, July and August. Cannot be combined with any other offer for discounted adult admission rates.

Friday & Saturday, June 10 & 11, 11 am–3 pm
Strawberry Thanksgiving Celebration

Native people celebrate thanksgivings throughout the year and in late spring we honor the strawberry as the first berry of the season. Watch the puppet show, A Strawberry Thanksgiving; enjoy Native games, and taste a strawberry drink. The Wampanoag Nation Singers and Dancers perform on Saturday at 1 pm. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.

June 25–Sept. 3, 10 am–4 pm
Sing Me Your Story, Dance Me Home: Art & Poetry from Native California

In this Mashantucket Gallery exhibit, California Indian stories, songs, and dances take form in contemporary poetry, paintings, baskets, photographs, and sculpture. The exhibit opens at 11 am on June 25. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.

A traveling exhibition from the California Exhibition Resources Alliance with support from The James Irvine Foundation.

Saturday, June 25, 10 am–noon
Exhibit Preview and Brunch

Museum Members Only. Preview Sing Me Your Story, Dance Me Home: Art & Poetry from Native California with exhibit curator Theresa Harlan (Santo Domingo Pueblo and Jemez Pueblo). Tour the exhibit at 10 am and stay for brunch. $22 per person. RSVP by June 17 to Sarah Eleazer at (860) 396-6890 or seleazer@mptn-nsn.gov.

Saturday, June 25, 12:30–2 pm
Art & Poetry for Young People

After a short tour of the exhibit, Sing Me Your Story, Dance Me Home: Art & Poetry from Native California, for inspiration, move to the terrace for art and writing. Anything goes—pictures, collages, and poetry are all encouraged. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.

Meet Theresa Harlan, Exhibit Curator
Theresa Harlan, (Santo Domingo Pueblo and Jemez Pueblo) shares her perspective as the curator of Sing Me Your Story, Dance Me Home: Art & Poetry from Native California. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum members.
