Pamyua Live in Concert

The Alaskan group Pamyua bring their stylish mix of Native and contemporary sound—tribal funk, some call it—to the Museum Auditorium. Singing what one reviewer termed “Native doo-wop,” the four-member recording group blends a variety of styles, harmonies and musical instruments (like the didgeridoo and the African djembe) to perform songs that range from traditional Inuit and a cappella to soul and gospel. Started 10 years ago by two brothers of Inuit and African American ancestry, Pamyua (pronounced BUM yo ah) has recorded several CDs that reflect a rich explosion of cultures. Free with Museum admission.

These performances are part of The CL&P 2007 Performing Arts Series and are made possible by
a generous grant from Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P).
