Talking About Race in Hartford

Join Hartford high school students as they explore and reflect on the ways urban youth experience race and racism. Last summer these teens conducted their own community research project and produced a documentary on race as part of an Institute for Community Research’s program. They are currently creating a mobile mural on the topic, working with artists Victor Pachecho and Luella Pavey; the mural will be on display in the Museum Atrium until June 16. The students invite museum visitors to view the mural and discuss their projects with them from 12:30 to 1 pm. Afterwards the students facilitate a workshop titled “Race: The Lived Experiences” from 1 to 2 pm. Refreshments for workshop participants from 2-3 pm. Call 800-411-9671 to register for the workshop. Free with Museum admission, free to Museum Members.
