What’s Race Got to Do With It?
Although we live in a multicultural world, how do we teach our children to live in it? An informative and exciting two-day workshop will provide educators with innovative ideas, incorporating the museum gallery exhibit, RACE: Are We So Different? Examining the issues of race and racism in America, this seminar is led by Trudie Lamb Richmond, MPMRC Director of Public Programs. On July 29, she is joined by Mohawk author and scholar Doug George-Kanentiio, his latest book is Iroquois on Fire. Dr. Thomas Lovia Brown participates on July 30. He has extensive expertise in diversity awareness training and is the founder of the University Leadership Forum. Workshop attendees engage in a variety of hands-on activities, including sharing contemporary stories of race and racism. Workshop fee is from 10 am–4 pm each day, $60/$50 Members and includes a packet of updated resource information and curriculum materials. Teachers earn 1.2 CEUs.
