This summer in July and August 2024 at the Pequot Museum we will be offering a variety of culture filled fun and educational programs, workshops and events for families and friends of all ages. Join us each day Wednesday-Saturday for some of the best experiences that Mashantucket has to offer at the largest Native American museum in the world!

Bead Lovers Workshop- Special guest Sparrow’s Beading

Come join Sparrow as she demonstrates how to make a beaded keychain. Attendees will be provided with extra needles, thread and seed beads to join in on this fun beading experience

Join Morningstar as she teaches participants how to make simple Indigenous beaded earrings. Participants will be able to pick fun colors of their choice to collaborate into a beautiful design

Arrival of the People Theater

See how storytellers from all four directions relay various elements of their own creation stories in their own Native languages.

**Outside of the theater, you’ll find contemporary works of art created by nine Native American artists which visually represent their own tribes’ creation stories.

Tool Theater

Witness the actual historic tools used by Mashantucket Pequots for farming and building.

Wampum Theater

Discover the beauty and intricacy of the quahog shell beads originally used for ceremonial purposes, and later for trade.

War Theater: The Witness

Film is shown in War Theater 2 at 11am, 1pm and 3pm

Witness the tragedy of the Pequot War through the eyes of a Pequot elder who survived the Massacre at nearby Mystic.

The Witness is a 30-minute, 70-mm film which graphically dramatizes the events surrounding the Pequot War. The film includes scenes of violence and nudity which may not be appropriate for children under 12.

Aunt Matt’s House Mini-Theater

Immerse yourself in the early 19th Century as three Mashantucket Pequot women recall their daily lives and challenges.

Federal Recognition Theater

“Bringing the People Home” chronicles the incredible story of how the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe rebuilt their nation and achieved federal recognition in 1983.

Seasonal Saturday

Join us each Saturday to learn about Pequot and Eastern Woodland life & traditions of the summer past and present.
