Winter Survival Hikes

Museum Member Only Events That Are FREE!

Saturday, Jan. 7; 10AM - 11:30AM

Thursday, Jan. 12; 10AM- 11:30AM

Join Museum Director, Dr. Jason Mancini, and Museum educator Nakai Northup (Mashantucket Pequot), for a Winter Survival hike on the Rez as they demonstrate essential winter survival skills. Learn how to identify and locate important plants for winter survival and discuss how those resources were prepared for food, medicine, and materials.

Know how to to identify common animal tracks? You'll learn that too! (And more!)

Dress appropriately for the weather, and bring your snowshoes if there is enough snow on the ground. Hikes begin at 10AM at the Pequot Museum's Group Entrance and will last approximately 1 hour. (Or more if we're having fun!)

*Please note: The museum will be closed during the January 7 hike.

Reserve your space by clicking on the Red Tickets link. It is FREE and open to Museum Members only.
